This relationship might work on another level (sex, creativity, money or family goals) but it will not work on a lifestyle level. People don’t want to hear this but obesity comes with a unique lifestyle and if you’re not on board with it, you’re going to clash.

Want to go for an evening walk? No I want to sit on the couch. Want to share my gym hobby with me? No I’m not interested. Want to play frisbee? No I want to sit in. Want to eat this healthy meal with me? No I want fast food. Want to go home? No I want another large white wine. Want to go for a swim? No I want to eat these chips. Want to do some yoga? No I want to stay in bed. Want me to make a chicken salad for us? No I want to eat a Burger King.

You clash at every level. At every turn. It’s a lifestyle. It’s not about looks. Who cares what type of body someone finds attractive? That’s not the problem. The problem is certain goals, beliefs, a drive and a self-respect that doesn’t match. Clash clash clash clash clash.

If these two can overcome those huge hurdles, good luck to them. Though I haven’t found anyone who can so far.
